Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

If you plan on enjoying your Orlando vacation during the Spring, you must include a trip to Disney‘s 19th Annual Epcot Flower & Garden Festival!

Disney’s 19th Annual Epcot Flower & Garden Festival is set to run from March 7 through May 20, offering those itching to view spring flowers plenty of time to check out the gorgeous sites.  The preparations are currently underway, and the festival is shaping up to be one of the best yet, with a number of exciting attractions that shouldn’t be missed.

One of the show’s highlights,  a Sorcerer Mickey topiary, will be the front entrance’s largest floral display in history.  The eight-foot-tall Mickey will stand atop a 12-foot floral mountain in front of Spaceship Earth, one of the park’s most iconic attractions.  A variety of ther  characters and objects from the movie Fantasia will also be featured in the presentation.  Pink, orange, blue, white, violet and orange flowers will all be used to bring the scent to life.

A variety of other topiaries will also be on display, featuring characters like Buzz, Woody and Lotso from Disney’s Toy Story 3, as well as Lightning McQueen and Mater from the film Cars 2.  More than 100 different topiaries are expected to be showcased, and 75 of those will be characters from Disney and Pixar films, making it a great experience for children.

Another highlight involves HGTV, the sponsor of the show for the third year in a row.  A variety of design celebrities and gardening artists from the station will be on hand throughout the event, offering tips and tricks for landscap-ing design.  John Gidding, the star of the hit show Curb Appeal, will be starting off the event from March 9 to 11.

Those who love plumerias will be thrilled to learn that Just Plumerias, a growing specializing in the blooms, will be exhibiting plenty of examples of the intriguing bloom, which has a unique scent for each colored flower.  Some smell sweet, while others smell like jasmine, peaches or citrus fruit.  Surely, you should take the time to stop and sniff each hue to get the full effect.

The Flower Power Concert Series returns to the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival each Friday through Sunday.  Performances will take place at the America Gardens Theatre at 5:15 pm, 6:30 pm and 7:45 pm each Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival.  Here’s this year’s line-up:
